FAQs

How often will therapy sessions be scheduled?

Frequency of therapy is determined based on the results of the evaluation and your child's specific needs. Most clients benefit from 1-2 sessions per week.

What types of feeding disorders do you treat?

We treat delays in speech & language development (late talking) and delays or disorders of speech sound production (articulation and phonological disorders). We also treat orofacial myofunctional disorders (OMDs), which are atypical movement patterns of the muscles of the face and mouth that can affect speech, feeding and breathing.

Do you accept insurance?

No; we are a private/cash pay practice and we don't bill any third party payors for our services. Payment is due at the time of service. We accept cash, check or credit card. We can provide you with an itemized document detailing the service(s) provided, which you may be able to submit for reimbursement if your insurance offers coverage for out-of-network services. Therapy services can also be paid for using a Health Savings Account (HSA).

Being private pay allows us to focus fully on our clients and their specific therapy needs. We can work directly with you to identify the treatment approaches and frequency of therapy that works best for you and your child, not what insurance dictates. Having a simplified payment process also allows us to spend our time doing therapy, rather than having to devote hours each week to the authorization and billing process

Why don't you bill insurance?
How do I know if my child needs therapy?

If you have concerns about your child's communication or feeding, you can schedule a free 15-minute consultation call with one of our therapists to discuss them. We will have you complete a brief form beforehand so we can make the best use of your time during this call and help you decide if a formal speech or feeding evaluation is recommended.

What qualifications do your therapists have?

Our therapists hold a Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP) from the American Speech Language Hearing Association and are licensed SLPs in the state of Tennessee. They also hold the title of Certified Lactation Counselor (CLC) from the Academy of Lactation Policy and Practice. Please feel free to ask about our speficic experience and training if you have additional questions!

Does my child need a doctor's referral to begin therapy?

No; because we don't bill insurance, your child doesn't need a doctor's referral to start. If you are planning to submit documentation to your insurance company for possible reimbursement, you may want to get a referral in case it is required by your insurance company.

What types of speech disorders do you treat?

We treat difficulties with breastfeeding or bottle feeding, challenges transitioning to solid foods, difficulty with oral intake incorporating medical, nutritional, feeding skill and psychosocial factors (pediatric feeding disorder) and swallowing problems (dysphagia). Our therapists have experience working with babies and kids who are receiving modified diets and those who use feeding tubes for nutrition.
